How is mechanical availability calculated?
Mechanical availability is scheduled hours minus maintenance and breakdown hours, divided by scheduled hours. A machine scheduled for a full shift with no downtime is fully available.
How is utilisation calculated?
Utilisation is operating hours divided by available hours. Available hours are the scheduled hours less the maintenance and breakdown hours.
Why does my site calculate these differently?
Definitions vary by site and by contract, for example whether standby or a planned service counts as downtime. These are the definitions used here, so check them against your contract.
